Brown Recluse Spider Bites

brown

This month in the wilderness medicine group meeting we spoke about using therapeutic plasma exchange to treat refractory systemic loxoscelism after a brown recluse spider envenomation.  The paper that describes that treatment modality can be found here:

Brown recluse envenomation-therapeutic plasma exchange (J Med Toxicol 2015)

We had a pretty good turn out at Buschenshank which is a German restaurant located on Court St. in downtown brooklyn.  We also talked about going back there as it seems they have trivia nights on tuesdays.  With all the brain power in our department we should easily be able to roll over any competition that Brooklyn can throw our way.  Email me at silverfish8@gmail.com if anyone is interested in participating.  I am always happy to grab a nice cold beer at this place.  Since I presented the paper, I also put together a succinct summary that can be found here if you don’t have time to read the entire paper:

Please join us next month on 8/4/15 when we hear Dr. Nico Grundmann talk about a topic of his choosing.  Location will also be announced soon.
